With This Tag I Thee Wed

The Reverend Dudley traveled all the way from New Jersey to pawform the Wedding Service.  He cleared his throat, and opened an old and important looking book.

"Dearly beloved," he began, "we are gathered here today to join Patrick O'Malley and dear Miss Cricket in pawtrimony.  If anyone can show any just cause why these dogs may not be pawfully wedded, speak now or furever hold your peace."

He turned and looked straight at Patrick with a most serious expression.

"Patrick, do you take Cricket to be your wife, to live together in  pawtrimony, to love, honor, comfort her and keep her in sickness and in health, and forsaking all others, for as long as you both shall live?"

"I do," said Patrick in a solemn voice.

Reverend Dudley repeated the question to Cricket:

"Cricket, do you take Patrick to be your husband, to live together in pawtrimony, to love, honor, comfort him and keep him in sickness and in health, and forsaking all others, for as long as you both shall live?"

Cricket: "I do."

The reverend spoke the words of the couple's vows first, then told each of them to repeat.

Patrick looked gently at Cricket and smiled.

"I Patrick, take you Cricket to be my wife, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, 'til death do us part."

When it was Cricket's turn, she leaned close to Patrick and softly spoke:

"I, Cricket, take you Patrick, to be my husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better for worse, for richer for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, 'til death do us part."

Reverend Dudley instructed Patick to place the dog tag on Cricket's collar and to repeat his words.

Patrick gently fastened the tag while saying: "I give you this tag as a token and pledge of our constant faith and abiding love.  Cricket, with this tag, I thee wed."

The Reverend then instructed Cricket to do the same.  She placed the dog tag on Patrick's collar while saying: "I give you this tag as a token and pledge of our constant faith and abiding love. Patrick, with this tag, I thee wed."
